i have an almost identicasl machine,
celeron, 400mhz, started with 64mb RAM, 1 mb onboard graphics.

and it runs fine with fedora core 6 (the latest) with XFCE4 rather than gnome....
since then i have updated the RAM to 256 (pc 133)
and it runs fine with fedora with gnome

Gentoo and fluxbox is an excellent combination for slower machines, imho...fluxbox on just about anything is great for low memory machines, actually. (Don't want to sound like a fluxbox "salesman", but that's been my experience...Gentoo, FreeBSD, Slackware, OpenBSD, etc...they all run fast and smooth on low end machines with fluxbox as the wm).
