going crazy over mysql rpm distro on RH 8

This is driving me nuts.
usualy I can find the answer to these kinds of questions, but this whole mysql documentation fiasco is killin me.

I have mysql running on RH8 and all current updates are onboard.

mysql works like a dream, as long as a user is logged into the server (the RH8 box) the minute you log out the server stops accepting connections from remote users.
apache works fine and so does php, just not mysql

Now heres where the pain starts to grow,
lots of info exists on how to auto start and run the service right after boot, all the pages and documentation refer to the mysql.server file.

The problem is that the RPMs for RH8 stick the whole distribution in wildly different directory locations then the docs say, well no biggy I can do a search.. hey wait, no mysql.server on my box??? no mysql safe either?
all I can find is the mysqld file.
ok dont panic, download a binary from mysql and extract the mysql.server file, holy crap its not here either!

ok so what the heck is going on? Im not a stupid fellow by any means. where is the msql.server file?????

well heres the results, so Im not crazy, there is no file named mysql.server in the rpm, why would they leave out this script essential to the autostart function? at least all the docs say its needed to autostart the service.
