Goal convert mp4 file to a regular DVD

I have mp4 files that I want to burn onto a regular DVD so that they will play in an old fashioned DVD player, hooked up to an old fashioned ginormous tv.

I am running ubuntu and was trying to find the right code to convert mp4 to vob using ffmpeg. I have found a lot of instructions for converting vob to something else, but not much luck going back to DVD.

My goal: make these mp4 files work in a DVD player

Any suggestions?
