Gnome's vanishing launchers

I create launchers on the Gnome desktop and they dont show up at all, at first I thought it was just my ssh and sftp ones I was trying to make termainal commands, but now my eclipse one just doesnt do anything after i hit ok on the launcher creator. Anyone know what mistake I am making here?

Have you right-clicked on the icon and checked out the launcher's properties? Sometimes it's because the path isn't correct, if so, you might need to fill in the full path. /usr/bin/whatever (Especially if you're working remotely, because your path may change slightly from what you might use if you were logged in as a local user.)
