GnomeBaker's "rules" for recording
I'm trying to install the latest version of Ubuntu 6.04 Dapper Drake.
I needed to make a new partition for /home To that end I tried to download GParted. Can't happen due to another problem, being addressed in another post. So I decided to back up to CD my /home. Fired up GnomeBaker. What I received is below, cut in size by about 75% : INFO: UTF-8 character encoding detected by locale settings. Assuming UTF-8 encoded filenames on source filesystem, use -input-charset to override. mkisofs: Warning: Directory loop (/home/mark/Desktop/1440u-guide_files/Bro1440HL_files dev: 301 ino: 868773). mkisofs: Warning: Directory loop (/home/mark/Desktop/Distillation Yahoo/Alcohol_yield_files dev: 301 ino: 868310). mkisofs: Warning: Directory loop (/home/mark/Desktop/Duck Farming/Raising Ducks_files dev: 301 ino: 868650). mkisofs: Warning: Directory loop (/home/mark/Desktop/Duck Farming/housmngt_files dev: 301 ino: 868687). mkisofs: Warning: Directory loop (/home/mark/Desktop/Duck Farming/ducknutr_files dev: 301 ino: 868697). mkisofs: Warning: Directory loop (/home/mark/Desktop/Duck Farming/duckpubs_files dev: 301 ino: 868700). mkisofs: Warning: Directory loop (/home/mark/Desktop/Vigil/Pisco dev: 301 ino: 851711). mkisofs: Warning: Directory loop (/home/mark/Desktop/Vigil/Pisco/pda_5b52-2_files dev: 301 ino: 851715). mkisofs: Warning: Directory loop (/home/mark/Desktop/Vigil/Pisco/pda_5b52-2_files/a_data dev: 301 ino: '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/constitution_on.gif' and '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/constitution_on.gif' have the same Rock Ridge name 'constitution_on.gif'. mkisofs: Error: '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/global.css' and '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/global.css' have the same Rock Ridge name 'global.css'. mkisofs: Error: '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/glossary_off.gif' and '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/glossary_off.gif' have the same Rock Ridge name 'glossary_off.gif'. mkisofs: Error: '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/howto_off.gif' and '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/howto_off.gif' have the same Rock Ridge name 'howto_off.gif'. mkisofs: Error: '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/isittrue_off.gif' and '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/isittrue_off.gif' have the same Rock Ridge name 'isittrue_off.gif'. mkisofs: Error: '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/legislative_home_off.gif' and '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/legislative_home_off.gif' have the same Rock Ridge name 'legislative_home_off.gif'. mkisofs: Error: '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/netscape_cheater_2.gif' and '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/netscape_cheater_2.gif' have the same Rock Ridge name 'netscape_cheater_2.gif'. mkisofs: Error: '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/org_chart_off.gif' and '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/org_chart_off.gif' have the same Rock Ridge name 'org_chart_off.gif'. mkisofs: Error: '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/reference_home_on.gif' and '/home/mark/Desktop/constitution_files/reference_home_on.gif' have the same Rock Ridge name 'reference_home_on.gif'. What gives with this? I'm making a data CD, and the above keeps mentioning mkisofs -- make an iso file system? Why? |

Some packages can cry for dependencies even when you don't need them. |
Jens:
I will respond to your post's question after this: I was seeking a way to copy all of my /home files & folders onto a CD so that when I installed Dapper Drake, I would not lose the nearly 1.5 Gbytes of data I had accumulated. I cannot guess why html files, odt files, wav, pdf or other types of would have "dependencies". Eventually I was able to install Dapper Drake (Ubuntu 6.04LTS) but the install did completely overwrite the entire partition where previous versions of Ubuntu, OpenOffice, FireFox etc. had resided. |
