gnome wallpaper

after the initial installation of linux, and the first time starting of gnome, what is the file location for the gnome wallpaper that is displayed? if i change it and reboot, it goes to the same default wallpaper that is displayed after installing linux/gnome. i don't care about changing it, i just want to overwrite the file with a wallpaper.jpg or whatever and be done with it.

You don't say which distro you have, but on mine the wallpapers are at
/usr/share/backgrounds
/usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds

If you are unlucky with these, use System tools -- Search files to look for the "backgrounds" folder: the name should be the same, even if your distro has stuck t in /etc or whatever.
