How can I answer this question for you? They are both good. They are both bad. It depends on what you want and what YOU like. This is about YOU. YOU choose which is better. Why don't you try KDE for one week and then Gnome for week two. No swapping or changing and then YOU might be able to answer your own question. BTW - there is no answer.

There's no point in discussing which is better. You just have to install both, try them and decide by yourself which one you like more, that's what matters, so the opinions that you will read here or in the web are irrelevant.

One thing I could say is that some distros have polished more one Desktop Environment, in fact they are clearly leaned towards one of them, so if you want to try one of them is better if you first choose a distro:

KDE --> SuSE, Mandriva, Kubuntu, Slackware
GNOME --> Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu

Worth of noting: Neutral distros: Gentoo, ... I can't say other, mmmm :scratch:

What does KDE have that gnome does not

and what does gnome have that kde does not

USe them both and choose the one that suites you best. There have been so many threads about this issue and which one is best comes down to personal preference.

I have suse and I can install only one or the other.

according to victorh suse has better kde. I might install that

You can install both by choosing both KDE and GNOME packages during setup or afterwards using yast.

I looked thru yast and I did not see that option of adding kde

In the point to resource requirment, Gnome is better.
KDE is too much resource hungry.

Though i am using a too first PC, but i like gnome. :)

YAST -> Software -> Software Management -> Filter -> Selections -> KDE Desktop Environment.

If you like something that feature rich and configurable then KDE could be what you are looking for. GNOME is a lot more simplistic and less configurable than KDE.

When trying to install it, it says that there is some conflicts. Should I ignore those or will it cause a lot of problems?

Gnome, definitely--at least for people who tend to prefer gnome-like features. KDE is better if you like lots of "K"s in your filenames. Another way to chose would be to see which little animal you like better....;)
