Question GNOME or KDE?


I've been using KDE for sometime now and i really like it..so i decided to stick with KDE now. And now i want get rid of Gnome....but i dunno how to do it....i tried to go to mandrake softare managment thing and remove software and tried getting rid of gnome...but it seems to wants to get rid other files under KDE section...and i don't think it's supposed to do that..any help?

if you're not pushed for space you should try to keep it. aswell as being vastly better than kde (unless you want to pretend you're still in windows) it will also greatly increase the number of applications you can run as many programs are specifically designed to use kde or gnome features. you don't have to have the window manager running to use their libraries... you could remove certain parts of it, likethe gnome-session package and such like, but keep thigns like gtk installed always. you'ev not given any useful information about what distro you're using though, so i can't tell you how to remove them for your distro...

I am using Mandrake 9.0...so u are telling me that GNOME is better? hmmm...all right i am going to try using GNOME Then

well i'll also tell you that http://blackboxwm.sf.net is vastly better than them both put together... but i wouldn't expect you to necessarily see why, seeing as it does next to nothing...

that looks a bit too complicated to use...i am a newb remember?? and i think i might just stick with kde for now..i am getting an error msg evertime i start gnome.....it says Setting daemon restarted too many times and have trouble opening it or something..oy
