GNOME on RHEL 5

Want to install GNOME on RHEL server OS to make life easier. Can it be done and if so, how? From a NEWBIE.

Thanks

Pat

as root, run
Code:

yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment"
presuming that you have RHN access configured. if you do NOT have RHN access paid for, then you really have NO BUSINESS running RHEL5 and should installed / migrate to CentOS instead.

Also unless you MUST USE the older RHEL5 ( RHEL 5.9 is the current and very last minor upgrade in the older 5 series)
for old legacy hardware or old legacy software needs
it would be advisable to install the current RHEL 6.4
