gnome main menu font size

is it possible to reduce the size of gnome main menu font size..
'font' option provided in preferences doesnot reduce them..

Run gnome-font-properties and change the size of the Application font

nope--it doesn't work..i am talking about main menu of gnome
(as we have start menu inwindows)
