Gnome login trouble!
Posted this yesterday, but got no answers... Trying one more time!

I just recently installed Debian 3.0 r4 and I'm having problems getting logged into the Gnome display manager.

I have several questions regarding this:

When my Debian boots up, the default display manager Gnome, automatically starts up.
1) Where can I modify which one's supposed to be default?

The display manager login window comes up. This is where I have problems. I enter my username and password, and click OK. Then the screen flickers and goes black for one second, and then comes back to the exact same login window. I can't get further!
2) What is wrong?

I have checked the .gnome-errors file in my homedir, and the last line there says something interesting:

/usr/bin/gnome-session: No such file or directory
Does this have something to do with it?

One more question:
3) How do I kill the login window, and get back to the terminal login? I've tried changing to another screen with CTRL+ALT+F1, and then 'kill pid', but the login window still lives.
