Gnome Login Screen Keeps Disappearing?
 

My Gnome login screen on boot up keeps disappearing from time to time
and I get the bash user login screen instead? To get around this I have
to delete the /tmp/.X0-lock file and do a startx command to get the
Gnome desktop to appear? If I don't delete that file I get the "server
already active for display... etc." when I issue the startx command?

Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Try going to run level 3, and issue the startx command. What are the errors? Your post after this post is no doubt related to this same problem?

Can you post the "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" file here? We need more information before we can help you.
