Gnome/kde

Hey,

I have just installed Fedora Core 5, and now when I boot the system, I cannot get into the desktop environment (GNOME/KDE).
How should I do, to get in there. I am pretty sure that it is installed.

So I'm presuming that you arrive either at a command login or a login request ?

If it's a login request, the try the username that you set up during installation and that users password.

Once you've logged in and arrived at a command prompt (which finishes in a $ sign - usually), try the command
Code:
startx
If the graphic interface is correctly installed it should start in whichever you have set as default

regards

John

Seems odd it does not start in X. May depend on installation choices. Check your /etc/inittab file. There is a line that says this for X to start up in. id:5:initdefault: What does your say? I am guessing id:3:initdefault:
If not, not sure why X fails. Check logs to see if errors are happening. Use command ' dmesg ' to see startup messages.
