gnome issues


Is it possible to have gnome without x windows because I want to install gnuCash on a server that is just text based but i get errors that gnome is needed whenever i try to install .

No its not possible. You need an xserver to run gui apps.

Ill need to use the gui application remotely from a workstation that has x windows.I just want the installation on the server. Is that practical.

Its not possible because the xserver will be a dependency for that package and it won't install unless an xserver exists on the system that its being installed.
