gnome error


when i booted my comp today it flagged an error saying GNOME encountered error while booting?then all my icons are being displayed differently.whats the problem and how do it restore my original desktop

Have you installed any updates recently or changed anything?

what distro are you using ??? that would help

Please describe ,what does " displayed differently " mean .

But to reset it back to the install defaults rename in your home folder
.gnome and .gnome2 to .gnome-old and .gnome2-old
then log out and log back in
This should work most of the time ,if it is a gnome config error .

Your distro is the 'flavor' of linux... such as Fedora, Ubuntu, etc.

well actually it was lookin like a different GNOME.like,the icons on toolbar are either magnified or styled differently.i doubt its an alternate
