Gnome crashed on root please help
Hello friends I am a linux newbie and I'm using fedora 7 on my comp the problem I encountered is like this...I was using my comp regularly using Gnome logged in as root with Compiz and Beryl installed and enabled(not at the same time but alternatively) yesterday and Today when I logged into my gnome desktop everything including the panel and the icons were gone...only thing that was visible was the desktop wallpaper...Although KDE is running fine on the same account which is root and also when I log into my other account gnome runs good. Its causing problem for this account only,,,also one more thing is that when i use system-config-network it doesn't start under KDE and not even in the other account its simply not visible just the border is visible and I have to force quit to quit it...Any help??

Did u mess around config files? Maybe u removed Gnome config files from the root home dir, but Gnome should regenerate the default ones. That is strange. What is in the system log?
tail /var/log/syslog or tail /var/log/dmesg That might help us to see what went wrong. |
Got it working on restart
