gnome background centered on edge of screen

greetings

system:
ubuntu (gnome)
ati drivers
dual screen

i have a strange problem.

my desktop wallpaper is centered on the right edge of my right screen

how do i reset this to have the center point between the two screens? (left edge of right screen)

or failing that what about something to have different images on each desktop?

Catalyst should fix it.

It sounds like your screen positions are messed up. If you look in Applications > Accessories, you should find an ATI Catalyst configuration program that you can use to rearrange the desktops. You may need to restart X for the changes to take hold.

Sorry, I'm new to that aspect of multi-monitor setups.

Let me know if that worked for you.

Besides what CITguy already said, the easiest way to make sure that the wallpaper is displayed just like you want it to be is to create a wallpaper in gimp that will have the combined size of both monitors.

If you want one image on each monitor, just launch gimp and make a composition with two wallpapers at the desired size. That way there won't be anything to worry about. Gimp is your friend.
