Gnome?
Hi This is the First time i have got to grips with linux. (mandrake 10)
Anyhow All is well on the KDE side, however i would like to use gnome aswell so my question is how do i start it ive been reading through man gnome but havent a clue is it something todo with runlevel? Anyhow i know gnome was installed by mandrake installation, and to start KDE i key in 'startx' at the bash prompt is the a command to start gnome? hopefully i make sense please correct me if i make no sense, heh thank you. |
Type xwmconfig in a console then choose gnome, if that dosnt work hit Ctrl-alt-backspace then type" startx gnome"also check out this link:

Yup, the command to start Gnome (from the command line) is gdm.

Are you set up to where you click on your "user icon" then enter your password ?? As I remember Mandrake, that window has a button next to the "KDE" that is labeled "Menu" [or something like that] the drop down menu should give you a GNOME choice. |
