Gnome 2 - Icon set

Hi guys,

First of all I'm not a linux 'newbie' ;-) but didn't know where else this question might have fitted.

I have downloaded an archive of icons for GNOME 2 in .png format and I want to know what changes I should make in order to get my profile to use them.

I realise that I can set each icon idividually, but that's not really practical

I've had a look on google and not found anything obvious, any help on the matter would be appreciated.

I could imagine this stuff has something to do with Gnome 2 themes...could I be right? I mean, after all when you change a theme it might (but not necessarily) change at least some of the "basic" icons - like Computer, Trash etc. perhaps you should google for theme-thingies, or visit some gnome-themeing-site?

sorry I can't be of any direct help, but hopefully this guides you to some tracks I'd bet it's done through some theme-settings, if I was to guess.
