Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hi all, i installed mplayer from tar file.
I used ./configure --enable-gui --enable-xmga.
When i run mplayer from console mplayer -vo x11 namefile.avi it seems to work correctly, but it's not the same if i run gmplayer.

i don't realy think anyone can help. soooo many people have posted having the same trouble but i have yet to see anyone respond with a good enough solution that works. please let me know if someone has.
ok, i finaly got it. i thought i already had my default skin, but i guess i didn't. realy, the overall problems people run into with gmplayer is not having the codecs, not having the fonts, and not having atleast one skin called 'default'. i originaly thought i did, but i must have removed it while testing something else. go to ~/.mplayer/Skins/ and unzip/untar a skin in there and rename the folder to 'default'. that should be ok.
