GLIBC_2.3 Needed to Run wine

Hi I just recently tried to install Wine I am running Mandrake 8.1 I figured the newer versions would work with older versions of Linux I guess I was wrong.

I searched on the net and found that updating GLIBC could cause some serious problems is there anyway I can uninstall wine and install the one compatible with my system

Or did I just do something wrong

I looked also for wine compatible with 8.1 but I could not find it

Any help is appreciated

Thank you

Andrew

P.S this is the error I am getting when I try to run wine

wine: /lib/is86.so.6 version 'GLIBC_2.3' Not Found required by /usr/lib/libwine_unicode.so.1

every thing you need should be on your 8.1 CDs, but just curious why not upgrade? 9.1 kicks but

oh, wait that would be assuming you are installing the version of wine that is on 8.1 CDs.

You used a package that wasn't built for 8.1, probably you won't find any so it's best to compile from source.

I would go to the web site and go to the download area, and download the ISO images, and burn the CDs. 3 total
