Question glibc error

I've being trying to install Mozilla 1.3 and libieee1284 with no luck. I believe the problem is something to do with the glibc library (version 2.2.5-43). Running Redhat distro 7.3.

Using Gnome package manager I found the following problems with glibc
1)file: /usr/lib/qt-3.0.5/etc/settings/qtrc
problem: md5, file size, modification time
2)file: /etc/ld.so.conf
problem: file mode

Any idea how I can fix this so I can install Mozilla and thousand other applications?

Any help appreciated.

The first problem isn't related to glibc, the second shouldn't cause any problems, but as root do:

chmod +rw /etc/ld.so.conf
chmod -x /etc/ld.so.conf

just to be sure.

If your glibc is really broken, reinstall redhat (might as well upgrade to 9 while you're at it).

Thanks!

Thanks for the help.

Still can't install anything without errors about the glibc library.

I would like to move to Redhat 9 but I'm running a VIA EPIA boards with a C3 800 processor. Need to wait and see if other users have success installing and running RH9 with such hardware.

For now I will try a clean install of 7.3

Cheers!
