glib-2.0

How can I find out if glib-2.0 is installed on my Linux machine? If it is not installed how can I install it?

Please bear in mind I am a Linux newbie.

Thanks

It would help if you told us which distro you're using. You should put this info in your profile.

I have found this link:
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs...ral/glib2.html

Can I follow this to the letter or does the steps need to be modified for the MontaVista OS.

I could just go ahead and try but I dont want to screw my system up and not be able to fix it again without posting loads of questions on here.

thanks

For your help.

What kind of package management system does MontaVista Linux use? I'm having difficulty finding this out. Perhaps a simple way to check would be to do a "locate glib" and see what that tells you. You could install glib from source, but it's probably better to use your distro's own packages.
