give users access to home dirs

I want two users (on a local machine) to have rw access to each others home dirs. My plan was to create a group for these two users and then set that group as their default group. Would that even work, and if so are there any major concerns (security?) with this approach? Or does anyone have any other suggestions to easily share these home dirs? Thanks!

Just create a group from scratch ('twinusers') for example. Give this group the rights (read write whatever) to the two home dirs. Make user1 and user2 parts of this group. This is the quickest most efficient way to do it. Also, by creating a separate group from users, in case you decide that you dont' want to do this anymore, you just delete the group you created.
