giFT Configuration Problems

Heh, sorry this is more like a waste of bandwidth.
I remember not too long ago seeing a "giFT For newbies" thread or something similar, well I searched for it but found nothing, if someone could link me to it, or give me a hand with how to configure giFT

By the way giFTcurs as frontend (Yeah babay :))

Well what's the problem? If it's something simple we might be able to help again.
Have you run gift-setup yet?
Run that, run giftd -d then run your frontend.

Chu 03-16-2004 04:43 PM

I've run gift-setup a few times.
When I try to run giftd I get this:
Quote:

*** GIFT-FATAL: couldn't load protocol in file /usr/local/lib/giFT/libOpenFT.la: file not found
*** Often times more information can be found in the log file or with the -v command line switch.
So I just assume I have to re-run the gift-setup, but am not sure where I made my mistake, so if someone has the time/patience to possibly write me a small guide to stick by

no no, it's because you haven't got any protocols installed!! It's looking for the openFT protocol (you just used the defauly values when it asked, didn't you!) but it can't find it because it's not there. You need to download and install it first.

If you want to connect to the Kazaa network (fast track) you'll need the gift-fasttrack plugin. It seems to have vanished off the face of the earth, but I think I have a copy somewhere...if you give me a second I'll find it and post it to my website.

Thanks.
I have to go for a while, I will be back in a few hours.
Maybe just email it to me?

No, there may be other people who want it, so that would be selfish ;)

Try this link:

Thank you very much :)

I downloaded FastTrack installed it, re-did the gift-setup but now this:
Code:

*** GIFT-FATAL: unable to start 'FastTrack', no idea why (hopefully the protocol provided some info)
*** Often times more information can be found in the log file or with the -v command line switch.

Anyone have any idea?

HOLY!!!
I got it working!!!

Thank you so much for your help!
I could kiss you, cept I live on the otherside of the world and what not :P

How did you get it working?

PolyPerception 03-18-2004 01:44 PM

You might want to check this site out it is a frontend for giFT but it also has some plugins.

It is because of the FastTrack directory not created automatically.

You can do it by adding a directory names FastTrack under .giFT directory.

it is working for me already.
