Unhappy getting weird erorrs went trying to boot

ok so the install went very smoothly no problems at all then after its all done i reboot, i get two options.

1. red hat Linux (2.4.20-8smp)
2. red hat Linux-up (2.4.20-8)

I tried the first one and got this:

VP_IDE: Unknown VIA SouthBrige, Disabling DMA

then i tried the second one:

code: ff 50 10 eb d0 eb 0d 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90
<0> Kernel panic: attempted to kill init!

is there a seting i need to set somewhere to fix this or does red hat just hate my PC.

o and by the way when i first downloaded RH i just pushed enter to start the install, so far i have installed it like 4 times get the same erorr everytime

Well that first error looks like red hat hates your south bridge chip which deals with the IDE controller. It looks like you have either some hard drives or a cd drive connected to IDE. You might want to go out and try to go out and get a newer distro, that has a 2.6 kernal that might fix the issue. You could also try and go out and a get a pci IDE card that is supported by the 2.4 kernal.
