Getting VSFTP started

have installed vsftp using RedHat 8
have configured and modified the config files
/etc/xinetd.d/vsftpd
disable = no

Restart /etc/init.d/xinetd restart

Comes up starting [OK]

But when I run

netstat -a | grep ftp

comes up as a blank

How about just trying netstat -a and see what comes up. Also just type vsftpd in the terminal or the name of the app. and see if it will start.
