Getting to the Desktop enviroment from the Command Line
OK... Uber noob here.
I've played around with red Hat 9 a little. I just finished with installing slackware and in the last few dialogues I choosed fluxbox as my prefered desktop enviroment. OK... so awsome... It boots... no problems... but I am hit with the command line. How do I get into my Desktop Enviroment? BTW I have no problems logging in as root and navagating the filesystem. |
type :
startx |
Also, other GUIs have different start scripts. For Xfce, type startxfce or startxfce4
|
Alsome... Startx did the trick...
I have a couple more questions though. First... Can I switch Lilo for Grub? How do I set to always boot into a GUI How do I change the Desktop Manager I am using? And can I do it from Fluxbox? |
