Getting to DOS prompt under LILO

Hi,
I have both Mandrake Linux 9.1 and Windows 98 Second Edition installed on my machine underb LILO.

My question is how do I get to the DOS prompt and the Windows Safe mode during my machine boot-up as the LILO menu comes up very quickly after POST and thereafter I can't get to any of the above.

MY machine is an Intel Celeron 1.7 GHz with 265 MB DDR RAM and 40 GB HDD.
Thanks.

What I do is press the the button that brings the Startup menu very quickly, right after selecting windows from lilo (you'll have to have your finger on the button).

Isn't there an option somewhere to have that menu come up by default without having to press F8?

<edit>

Just remembered: TweakUI (I think that's what it's called) can, I think, allow you to change whether the menu comes up by default or if you have to press F8, and I think you can also change the default setting so it can go straight to console mode only.

Not entirely sure, though.
