getting rid of grub and going back to lilo.

Hi.:Pengy:
I was trying to get 2.6.2 running today in my debain testing install, but for some reason it wasn't loading the filesystem correctly.
All the settings in lilo 'looked' right, and it wasn't working. I decided to get grub to run, since it always ran well in a red hat 8 installation.
Grub installed: now it gives me a grub prompt, and I'm out at sea in a leaky boat.
The system 'should' give 3 options in the grub menu.
1: 2.2.20
2. 2.6.2
3. WinXP

2.2.20 is in hdb3/vmlinuz.old (boots correctly)
2.6.2 is in /hdb3/vmlinuz(wont load root)
XP is in /hda1(No clue how to load this kernel)

Worse comes to worse, I'll reinstall linux.
Could I get some help/links on how to reinstall lilo? (no go google replies)

You set up /etc/lilo.conf the way that you want. If you still have your old /etc/lilo.conf in place you can use that. Then you run:
lilo
which installs lilo on the MBR overwriting the grub data in the MBR.

If you have deleted /etc/lilo.conf or it you want to change it then here is a lilo HOWTO:
