Getting network drivers to work

I have a Dell Latitude d420. I installed Linux Mint alondside Windows 7. When running Linux, the network card doesn't come on and in Window it's business as usual. I can get online.

What do I do with these files I'm downloading from this site and forum and broadcom?

I've only used Mint once, well, Linux mint debian edition actually. But......

What kind of Network Card do you Have ?

Does Mint recognize there's an actual card there ?

And when you installed Linux mint did a notification box come up down the bottom and say "restricted drivers available" or something of that nature ?
