What's your distro? (Slackware, RedHat, Gentoo, etc.)
|
Are the orinoco modules inserted in the kernel you can tell by "lsmod" try "modprobe orinoco_cs" or just insert your card you should hear a "beep".
If you see orinoco_cs then do "iwconfig wlan0 essid youressid" or whatever that driver brings up sometimes it's eth1 Then set your ip with ifconfig or dhclient. |
mmm... im on redhat linux 9 and the laptop beeps when i put the card in... there is a "lucent technologies blah blah blah" in the network device setup thingy, which i press...
in the command, what's my essid and do i type the command into the console? arg, im such a newbie to linux... arg... :newbie: |
Yes type the commands in the terminal. I don't know what your essid is, it is whatever you set it on the AP.

I use the hostap driver on fedora with my cheap Proxim harmony wireless card, and it works fine. Do a google search for "Fedora Proxim harmony hostap" or something like that. |
