Getting my Ati 8500 to work perfectly

Just installed a fresh copy of mandrake 10. Want to take advantage of winex and so forth for gaming in linux. Need to get opengl working perfectly. Just downloaded the ati driver. and about to run the fglrxconfig. Is there anything i need to build into the kernel that isnt set as default, any changes i need to make. Do i need to download the DRI snapshot for ati i think its r200..file something. Also the fglrxconfig ask if i want to use external agpgart or the one thats built in, dunno which one to pick. So far everything is set at default because its a fresh installation of mandrake 10 comm. Any suggestions on the above would be much appreciated.

What motherboard/Chipset do you have?? I know I have an ABIT NF7 with a Nforce2 chipset and I have to use an external nvidia agpgart.
