Getting Linksys wireless-g to work on ubantu 7.10

I have tried various ways to get ubantu to recognize Linksys with no luck. Could you give me some ideas on how to get it to work.

to be honest with you I would ask the question on Ubuntu forums. They have a great community over there.

but the ubuntu documentation pages were quite helpful to me,

Hope this helps.

Check the Hardware Compatibility List for the exact model number of wireless NIC you have. Just saying it is Linksys and it doesn't work is not much help, so no one can help you.

It would also help if you told us what you have already tried.

To get the wireless card to work you need to have the correct driver, it needs to be compiled, then loaded into your kernel. Then you need to configure the wireless card including any router security settings.

You asked a general question (no model number, didn't say what you tried) so I can only give a general answer.

Most wifi hardware doesn't come with Linux drivers, or the Linux drivers don't work well. Use the ndiswrapper package instead. It has worked much better for me, even when the device was supposed to have Linux support.
