Getting into console
 

I have this program that only runs in the console only. E.g.When I try to run it in a terminal it just says 'Not on local console'

The problem is this. How do I get to the console? I think I need it to reboot to just the console alone but how?

Once I have got into the console do I have to reboot the computer to get back into the desktop?

press Ctrl + Alt + F1 to F6 (F7 to return to X)

Type CTRL ALT FX
Where FX is your Fkeys, 1-5 (and sometimes 6)

This will switch you to console. Then to get back to your desktop:
CTRL ALT F7
