Getting IE6 to running on linux

hello,

i'm currently running slackware 10.1 and i'm trying to get ie6 to run with wine. I've tried different ways to get it working but is unsuccessful. Does anyone know of a way to get ie6 to run slackware.

thanks,

Go to www.frankscorner.org - they have a very good how-to on using IE6 and Wine.

why would you want to do this? most people I know don't even run IE in windows.

i need to do it for web development, and to fill out my time sheet. Trust me, i don't wanna use IE6 because i like it, i need to know how some things look on IE and i wanna get paid :)

foo_bar_foo when i run the ./setup scripts. and i choice 1 - Slient Install of IE6, everything seem to work, except when the gui comes up. There isn't any text or font. its just hangs their and in the shell it say Setting up Internet Explorer 6..., but nothing happens. DId you have that problem? or did you do something else to get IE6 to work

thanks,

djgerbavore

p.s. Baldrick65 thanks for the link :)

Wow... is this for some kind of development purposes or you're just thinking that IE viruses and *wares won't affect your linbox through wine? =P

i'm just using it to go to internal website, that are behind my firewall. So the risk of virus isn't a big threat.

I finally got it running, but i don't know how to launch ie without going throught the setup again, how do i launch ie through the command line. for example when i do wine notepad it works, but i tried wine ie and wine iexplorer and not of the commands work. What is the command for launching ie.

Boow thanks for winetool, i installed it and was able to get ie to work :)

thanks everyone in helping me get this *working*
