Getting error when trying to install LimeWire.bin
I am trying to install LimeWire.bin to download music and I am getting an error that says it can't find my Java Virtual Machine however it is installed cause I have it linked to my browser. The actual message that I get is this.
./LimeWireLinux.bin Preparing to install... Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive... Configuring the installer for this system's environment... No Java virtual machine could be found from your PATH environment variable. You must install a VM prior to running this program. Can anyone help with this or now how to fix it? Any kind of assistance would be greatly appreciated. |
I've recently attempted to download LimeWire, but I failed too. I wasn't very persistent in my attempt, but I do recall LimeWire providing links to Sun's website where you can web-suck the necessary files for it.

I had the same problem .
I had to install both of these packages to get mine to work: j2sdk1.4.2_01, and j2re1.4.2_01 Heres a link (may have to copy and paste into browser) that I used to fix my problem. http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp...essage=1965368 Hope this help you. |
Ok guys...I had the same problem and solved it this way....
1) Downloaded and installed j2sdk-1_4_2_02-linux-i586.rpm 2) From the Limewire file location I typed: PATH=$PATH:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2-02/jre/bin sh ./LimeWireLinux.bin 3) It worked, the icon will be in the LimeWire directory in the folder you installed it into Hope it works for you too....have fun!
