Getting an error message on boot up in RecoverEDGE

When we boot up with a recovery disk in DVD drive we get the following warning message:
"/dev/sda2 extends beyond the drive geometry"

Is this a configuration problem with our backup software? If so how do I fix it, or can you direct me to a good source for newbies to Linux. Our support people want to charge WAY too much money to help us.

Thanks
