Unhappy gentoo install problem

hi. newbie space, and my apologies for my ignorance.

i'm installing gentoo-2.6.11-r6 on a tablet tc1000. i've been following the gento install hanbook, did _not_ use genkernel, and have gotten hung up on this final bit.

my kernel image is 2.6.11-gentoo-r6, but iname returns 2.6.11-gentoo-r3. so my module scripts (depmod?) doesn't run properly.

if someone could tell me what information you need to help me solve this, i'll happily post it.

thank you!

wget kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/linux-2.6.11.7.tar.bz2
tar xvf linux-2.6.11.7.tar.bz2
make menuconfig
make && make modules_install
[change the link of /usr/src/linux to new kernel]

Problem will be solved.
