Gentoo and Xfce on laptop

I was given an older toshiba laptop a few days ago with no operating system on it. It's a P266MMX with 32megs of EDO ram. I was thinking about putting Gentoo on it with xfce. I was wondering if anyone thinks that it will work? I know that Gnome and KDE are too heavy for this laptop, but I thought maybe gentoo and xfce might be lightweight enough to get some functionality out of it. I may be able to get a hole of some more ram for it but even then I can only boost it up to 96MB total. Any ideas on some other distros with lightweight gui's that may work if gentoo doesn't? I'm dloading gentoo as I write this so I will be trying it soon. Thanks for any input.

It should be ok, however since Gentoo is source based distro ie you compile packages from source yourself(unless you're planning to do a GRP install and don't want updates) it may not be so good for a p266mmx.

You can use pre-compiled binary packages as well.

I would probably use one of the *box window managers. My current favourite is OpenBox - fast, clean and simple.
