Generated device names on Fedora Core 5

Hello All,

When we insert an USB, Fedora Core 5 should generate two device files viz. /dev/sda (to represent the whole disk) and /dev/sda1 (to represet the corresponding partion). But on my system it generates only /dev/sda and doesn't not generate /dev/sda1. What could be the reason? Any inputs on this will be helpful.

Thanks and Regards,
// Rahul
