general rpm question

Hello all,

I'm installing Acrobat Reader onto my Mandrake box. I'm using the following command on the rpm:

rpm -ivh AdobeReader_edu-7.0.0-2.i386.rpm

This installs Reader into the usr/local directory. Is there any way to get it to install it to the /opt directory, while still will using this rpm?

Unless you're intentionally trying to create later problems for yourself with regard to updates, auto-config stuff, and the dependecies the RPM packages look for, I strongly suggest that you allow the RPMs to install the apps where they are design to.

RPMS are built to install their files in specific directories, so you won't be able to change that without rewriting the spec file or rebuilding the rpm.

Try "man rpm" to get help on uninstalling rpms
