thats what i am on right now. something i did in one of my attemps to install software (this time i was trying to install the games that come with the mandrake package) and somehow i filled up the entire disk. so i have already reinstalled mandrake once last night and i have to do it again thos morning as it is not showing it as taking the whole thing. for some reason it now only wants to use 3 gigs of the 200.

i have no idea what the problem was but i know that when i reinstalled it again it works fine and now recognizes and uses the whole disk. (i doubt it but it could also be that i while knowing it was broken decided it would be a good time to insert the secondary HD, so i took her apart and added an old 10 gig). upon reinstallation she wokrs butter and i have also now got java built in with the main package and dont have to install it. this is a great thing. of course i am learning more by screwing everything up repeatedly. too bad i dont know as much about this as i do about putting them ttogether. also thankx mannyman for sharing with me and listening to me. its greaqt to share my expliots daily and hear others. quite a highlight like espn is to the non nerds.

Cool, I made a little progress myself in booting drives and the like, at least in Mandrake. Hey , you can add me to your personal list so we dont waste a bunch of thread space. I got that book too "moving to linux", and it's helped a lot so far. Talk to you later.

i have been trying that PM thing for days and it says i dont have access so i just decided to quit fooling with that. i have also however made several new discoveries in mandrake myself.
#1 mandrake 10 does support RPM files.
#2 i learned the TAB key is like an autocomplete sort of thing that teels you therest of the command and gives you a list of the available ones starting with those letters.
#3 SU means super user and once you put in the password you can function in that terminal as root
#4 the is a command somewhere under the super user prefix that shows you the list of root command (i havtn pinpointed it)
#5 i cant download the firebird in RPM format (drat there goes getting a break on its installation)

and lastly no progress what so ever on installing anything! i have been breaking my eyeballs on this monitor and reading everything online (i will leave buying books to you my friend, my money goes for more hardware) and basically i get get some really pretty reactions in my Konsole but it all comes down to nothing is installed, and nothing is added to the menu either. oh well i will keep reading and trying

i am availavle for email if you wanna just share info that way necrosoft_inc@yahoo.com
