Geforce FX on MANDRAKE 9.2
 

Hey, i am curently running mandrake 9.2 and it is a clean install. I need help installing new Nvidia drivers. I have a geforce FX 5200 and i dont know what driver to install. If you have any suggestions that would be very helpful.. I am running a
duron 800
Nvidia GeforceFX 5200
LINUX MANDRAKE 9.2
398mb PC100ram

I am a newbi and i dont have a lot of experience with Konsole, I do however know how to download the drivers and start the install, i just get an kernel error and so i tried "sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run --kernel-name='2.4.22-10mdk'" with no results, i get the error "Could not match kernel(Im running 2.4.22-10MDK) would you like to connect to nvidia's website. When i say ya, it says i need to compile a kernel from kernel-source RPMS.. PLEASE HELP.. My email is russparker14@hotmail.com

sounds like you need to install the kernel sources for your kernel..

Mandrake 9.2 doesn't come with the kernel-source needed for nvidia driver installtion so you can get it here .

Is this the Header kernel files i need too or just the kernel sorce files? I need Specific step by step instructions on editing my XF86Config file, i dont know what to change to make my nvidia drivers working. thanks
