Ok so I just installed slackware and I have 2 problems.1. I am not able to make my resolution above 1024x786 though my 24 inch monitor can support 1680x1050. By the way I have an Acer al2216w. My second problem is I can't scroll with my scroll wheel. I have looked around but people keep on saying I need to edit my xorg.conf file.The thing is I am VERY new and I have no idea how to do this. I found it but I have absolutely no idea were to put the different settings.Is there any other way to fix this? Oh and my mouse is a Gear Head lm3750wsu. Thanks in advance.

Try this:

login as root, and run xorgsetup and follow the prompts.

When you are done, go into graphical interface (kdm command) and your resolution should be right, and your mouse wheel should work.

I have a dell inspiron 1545 and a logitech lx3 optical mouse. I did the above and solved both problems. The only thing I haven't got is the horizontal scroll on my mouse wheel. Hope it helps.
