gdm-simple-greeter.desktop is "Not responding" when I switch user in Fedora 11
Hi,
I have installed Fedora Core 11 couple months age, and I have create multiple accounts for my family members, recently I realized, after Linux has been up for couple days, when I click "switch user" tag on the menu bar from the top after my wife use the computer, the desktop just hang and the only way to get around it is power cycle the box. Has anyone observed the same problem?
here is my OS information from "uname -a"
Linux flee-hp-pc.homelinux.net 2.6.30.10-105.2.23.fc11.i686.PAE #1 SMP Thu Feb 11 07:05:37 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
so when I try to power cycle my computer I saw the following task is "Not responding":
gdm-simple-greeter.desktop
I don't have multiple users, so I can't test myself, but, if you Logout instead of Switch User, can you log in again with a different user, or does it still hang? If that works, I'd stay with it, there may be a problem with Switch User, and, since F11 is so close to end-of-life, it might not be fixed in F11. But may already be fixed in F12, or the close to be beta release of F13.
I did a quick search on: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/index.cgi
but didn't see your exact problem, it might be there, but I didn't have the time to look through everything.
You could always file a bug report (encouraged) about your problem, and see what advice comes back.
Just go to: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/
sign up, then follow the instructions for "Enter a new bug report". It only seems hard when you file your first bug, it's a breeze after that.
gdm-simple-greeter.desktop is "Not responding" when I switch user in Fedora 11. I am not able to login also.
Please help me out asap.
Thanks in advance.
