GDM setup problems
i'm sure this has been asked before...
if anyone can help or post a link that would be great... problem: when i press ctrl+alt+backspace.. it takes me to the user login which is fine. but it gives me the madrake login screen (the one where you select the user icon of a male silhouette or picture of a dog) i want to use the circles/happy gnome/mandrake login screen i see in the GDM setup. everytime i set it to use the graphical greeter (via GDM setup) and select the login i want to use... i still don't get it the login screen i specified everytime my system boots up. I can't even login to root with this login screen. is there a config file i must edit somewhere? TIA, Teal |
If I understand you correctly, you're setting up stuff in GDM Setup, but whenever you reboot or CTRL-ALT-BACKSP you get Mandrake's default DM right?
Well if that's the case, the reason is that by default, Mandrake uses a modified version of KDM, so the settings for THAT would actually be inside the KDE control center. You can change the DM you are using from inside the Mandrake Control Center (I think its in Hardware - Display Manager Chooser) and in there choose GDM....then all your settings you chose in the GDM setup should be there. |
wow..thank you... that was easy.
i feel like such a newbie :-p |
Don't feel too bad, we all did at first :D
Personally it was using Mandrake that actually let me get to a point where I could use Linux on a daily basis...and then allowed me to ease into the command line... If you try, you won't be a newbie for long |
