gdm menus in Libranet 2.7 -- gone

To cut a long story short I lost gdm after some apt-get install, and got it back again.

What is missing however are the menus that are included on that Libranet-modified login screen. The two language and session menus are reduced to the bare minimum ("Last", "default system", "Failsafe xterm") while the reboot, shutdown etc menu is inactive.

The default window manager is Icewm but I no longer have access to it from the login screen. Instead I get KDE whether I choose "default system" or "Last" --even if my last session was Icewm..

To get icewm I have to go through failsafe term and type icewm.

I installed the latest version of gdm, reconfigured it, rebooted.

I read a thread on the subject of Gnome taking over KDE because the user had used nautilus in KDE. Well, I often use Konqueror file manager in Icewm. Would that be the reason?

Anyway, any idea how I could get the menus back and working, and be able to choose from a list of window mangers as I used to?

Your help will most appreciated !
