Question GDM help........

I installed suse 9.1 professional and while going thru the various looks and feel of the environment i came to know that the gdm wasnt running and instead xdm was on........

I tried running the command gdm in the shell prompt but it says that the default screen 0 is taken by some other display and will try to run it in some other display. The screen flickers and error pops that gdm failed.

Plzzzz help me guys..........
