gdesklets and pygtk problem

ok, trying to install gdesklets on a slack 10 system:

installed in this order:

XML-Parser-2.34
pygtk-2.0.0
pyorbit-2.0.0
gnome-python-2.0.0
gDesklets-0.30pre

after installing pygtk i did;

export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib/pkgconfig/

as this is where pygtk-2.0.pc was and the config script for gnome-python couldn't seem to find it. after this change, it didn't seem to complain about anything, and all looked well. i basically went by the directions found here .

then, when i tried to install the sensors, i got an error for each one that said:

WARNING **: `GtkTextSearchFlags' is not an enum type

but that the sensor had been installed correctly and was ready to be used by gdesklets

then, when trying to do

gdesklets open /usr/local/gdesklets_displays/*.display

they all return with errors

the command gdesklets restart gives:

bash-2.05b$ gdesklets restart
Restarting gdesklets-daemon...
Shutting down gdesklets-daemon...
connecting to daemon [ ### ]
** (gdesklets-daemon:644): WARNING **: `GtkTextSearchFlags' is not an enum type
bash-2.05b$

any suggestions?

i would suggest that this is an issue in your core gtk installation, maybe that's out of date, as gtk2 can change quite rapidly at times. make sure you're on 2.6. mind you that's only a warning, not an error, so everything should be working just fine according to all the information you've actually provided.

Your python stuff needs to be installed in the following order:

pyorbit (./configure --prefix=/usr)
pygtk (./configure --prefix=/usr)
gnome-python (./configure --prefix=/usr)
